ABSTRACT
The article presents a commencement speech by Geoffrey Canada, president and chief executive officer (CEO) of the non-profit organization Harlem Children's Zone Inc., delivered at the commencement exercises of the University of Pennsylvania, held in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on May 14, 2012, in which he discussed various complex issues that the U.S. continues to grapple unsuccessfully including poverty, violence, and equal access to quality education.
