US Opportunity Funds Lure Unlikely Backers

The article reports on the investments by German retail investors on private real estate funds in the U.S. MPC Capital, a multibillion-dollar German closed-end fund manager, has established funds worth 298 million dollars by investing in six opportunity funds. HCI Capital is also putting a 100-million-dollar target fund. However, the investments are starting to step down because of the freezing of funds of Kan Am and Deutche Bank, Germany's largest open-field operators.
