ABSTRACT
According to a report as of May 10, 2004, commercial publishers are laying their chips down on books about gambling and so far the move is paying off. Simon & Schuster's Free Press imprint (New York) scored a New York Times hardcover bestseller in late 2002 with Bringing Down the House by Ben Mezrich and the book continues to be a bestseller on the paperback list, where it has remained for 32 weeks. Publishers are taking notice. The number of gambling books published in 2003 climbed to 118 titles, up 11.9% from 2002.
