ABSTRACT
Definitions of the term "ferning" or "fern pattern," which refers to the palm leaf pattern that mid-cycle cervical mucus assumed when placed in a thin layer on a glass slide and allowed to dry or the arborization found on microscopic examination of a sample of dried vaginal fluid at term, are presented.
