ABSTRACT
A definition of the term "false negative" is presented. A test result that wrongly suggests that a particular disease or condition is not present is referred to as false negative. An example of a false negative is a mammography result which suggest that a patient's breast tissue is healthy, when, in fact the patient has breast cancer.
