ABSTRACT
A definition of the term "psychoanalytic criticism" is presented. In psychoanalytic criticism, literature is regarded as analogous to dream or fantasy and therefore an expression of drives or desire. Psychoanalytic concepts have also illuminated the structure of figurative processes in literature.
