ABSTRACT
Information on the term "Isawiyya" is presented. Isawiyya is a Moslem sect, founded by the fakir Sheikh Abu Abd Allah Sidi Muhammed ben Isa as-Sofinai al Mukhteari, and its followers are spread across North Africa, and the middle and east Sudan. Religious gatherings of the sect requires its members to mask as animals and before beginning a pilgrimage, the followers of Isawiyya sacrifice an animals in the honor of the founder of their sect.
