ABSTRACT
Willet, a shorebird belonging to the sandpiper family. It is 14 to 17 inches (35 to 43 cm) long and is pale gray with dark gray legs. There is a black-and-white pattern on the wings. The willet is found from southern Canada south along the coast of North America to the West Indies. During the breeding season the willet makes a call that sounds like pill-will-willet. The female lays three or four spotted buff-colored eggs in a shallow nest on the ground. Both parents incubate the eggs.
