ABSTRACT
Buffalo Fish, a North American fish belonging to the sucker family. It is found from Canada to Mexico, chiefly in the lakes and rivers of the Mississippi Valley. The fish gets its name from its humped back, which resembles the profile of the American buffalo (bison). The most common species is the big-mouth buffalo fish. It is an important food fish that reaches a length of four feet (1.2 m) and weighs up to 65 pounds (30 kg).
