ABSTRACT
Menhaden, or Mossbunker, a small ocean fish. The menhaden is also called pogy, bunker, bugfish, and fatback. It is especially abundant along the Atlantic coast of North America. The adult fish is 12 to 18 inches (30 to 45 cm) long and weighs about one pound (450 g). It has large toothless jaws, small silvery scales, and yellowish fins. The female lays about 100,000 eggs, which hatch in two days. Menhaden feed chiefly on plankton.
