Indri, or Indris, a furred, tree-dwelling animal found only on Madagascar. It is a slender animal about two feet (60 cm) long, with a doglike face and a short tail. Its silky black or brown fur is marked with patches of white or cream. The animals are active by day, feeding on leaves, fruit, and flowers. The indri population is endangered due to the clearing of forests.
