ABSTRACT
Pople, John Anthony (1925-) was a British theoretical chemist who pioneered the use of computers for predicting the behavior of molecules in chemical reactions. He won the 1998 Nobel Prize in chemistry for his development of computational methods in quantum chemistry. Quantum chemistry analyzes the distribution of electrons (negatively charged particles) in molecules and interprets the chemical behavior of molecules in terms of their electron structure. He shared the prize with Austrian-born American chemist, Walter Kohn.
