ABSTRACT
Information on American beach volleyball player Dain Blanton is presented. He was the first and only black American on the Association of Volleyball Professionals Inc. tour. In 1997 he became the first black to win a major tournament, at Hermosa Beach. His first victory on the professional tour the Hermosa Beach AVP Grand Slam paid $300,000, the richest payoff in professional beach volleyball history.
