ABSTRACT
An encyclopedia entry for Yalata, a former mission in South Australia, is presented. It was established in 1954 under the administration of the Lutheran church. Anthropologist Daisy Bates had set up a ration depot at Ooldea, South Australia in 1919, as an important water soakage near the trans-Australian railway.
