ABSTRACT
An encyclopedia entry about the views of author F. L. Lucas on poet Walt Whitman is presented. He shares that Whitman was outraged when it was suggested that one of his works should be bound in vellum, and that the poet might have been equally irritated by discussions on style. Lucas adds that Whitman rewrote his book "Leaves of Grass" four times, but his style is unmistakable.
