ABSTRACT
A definition of the term "trough" is presented. It refers to a groove or channel. Different types of troughs are referred in the medical science such as arm trough that is a concave positioning device attached to a wheelchair armrest. Focal trough is a three-dimensional area within which structures are accurately reproduced on a panoramic radiograph that positions a patient within the focal trough.
