ABSTRACT
A definition of the term "tetanus" is presented. It refers to a disease caused by a toxin (tetanospasmin) that is produced in infected wounds by the causative organism Clostridium tetani. Some of the symptoms of the disease include extreme muscular rigidity, violent muscle spasms, and respiratory and autonomic failure.
