ABSTRACT
A definition of the term "teratogen" is presented. It refers to anything that affects normal cellular development in the embryo or fetus. Some chemicals, therapeutic and illicit drugs, radiation and intrauterine viral infections adversely alter cellular development in the embryo or fetus.
