ABSTRACT
A definition of the term "synthesis" is presented. In chemistry, it refers to the union of elements to produce compounds or the process of building up. In general, the process or processes involved in the formation of a complex substance from simpler molecules or compounds, as the synthesis of proteins from amino acids. Synthesis is the opposite of decomposition.
