ABSTRACT
A definition of the term "synovitis" is presented. It refers to inflammation of a synovial membrane. Inflammation may be caused by an aseptic wound, rheumatologic diseases, infections or a subcutaneous injury. The symptoms include painful, swollen and tense joints. Therapeutic treatments like cold, heat, ultrasound, and medications can reduce inflammation.
