ABSTRACT
A definition of "sexually transmitted disease" is presented. It refers to any disease that may be acquired as a result of sexual intercourse or other intimate contact with an infected individual. These include various diseases caused by bacteria, viruses, protozoa, fungi, and ectoparasites.
