ABSTRACT
A definition of the term "selection" is presented. It means choice or the process of choosing or selecting. But in biology, the term refers to factors that determine the reproductive ability of a certain genotype. Negative selection is the method by which immature T lymphocytes with receptors for self-antigens are spoiled in the thymus.
