ABSTRACT
A definition of the term "scald" is presented. It refers to a burn of the skin or flesh caused by moist heat and hot vapors, as steam. It also refers to cause a burn with hot liquid or steam. When the heat applied is approximately equivalent, a scald is deeper than a burn from dry heat.
