ABSTRACT
A definition of the term "renal papillary necrosis" is presented. It refers to the decay of kidney papillae resulted due to certain diseases such as pyelonephritis, diabetes mellitus, and sickle cell disease, or the toxic effects of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs.
