ABSTRACT
A definition of the term "reciprocal inhibition" is presented. It refers to the antagonistic action of muscles, requisite for movement. It is also the state in which a nerve center is inhibited by a stimulated one. The expiration center is inhibited by impulses generated by the inspiration center in the medulla.
