ABSTRACT
A definition of the term "rape" is presented. It refers to sexual assault or sexual violence perpetrated on one person by another against the will of the victim. It involves an attempt at or actual penetration of the vagina or another body orifice by a penis, finger or inanimate object. Several references to the term including date rape, male rape and statutory rape are presented. The statutory rape refers to sexual intercourse with a person younger than the legal age of consent.
