ABSTRACT
A definition of the term "radioactivity" is presented. It refers to spontaneous disintegration of an atomic nucleus resulting in the emission of alpha, beta, or gamma rays. Several references to the term including artificial radioactivity, induced radioactivity and natural radioactivity are presented. Induced radioactivity refers temporary radioactivity of a substance which has been exposed to a radioactive element.
