ABSTRACT
A definition of the term "quadriplegia" is presented. It refers to the paralysis of all four extremities, usually caused by a lesion of the cervical spinal cord. Quadriplegia may occasionally result from spinal stenosis, infections, aneurysms, vasculitis, autoimmune diseases, neurosurgery, or mass lesions.
