ABSTRACT
A definition of the term "quadriceps femoris" is presented. It is a large muscle on the anterior surface of the thigh composed of the rectus femoris, vastus lateralis, vastus medialis, and vastus intermedius muscles. A common tendon on the tuberosity of the tibia helps to insert the muscles. An extensor of the leg is called quadriceps femoris.
