ABSTRACT
The article presents definition of the term protoplasm, which means a watery colloid which is responsible for forming the cytoplasm and nucleo-plasm of cells. The colloid is included in a cell membrane which controls exchanges of materials with the environment. One can say that colloid is a solution of organic and inorganic chemicals in water.
