ABSTRACT
A definition of the term "porta" is presented. It refers to the point of entry of nerves and vessels into an organ or part. It also means a pulmonary hilus for the entry and exit of the bronchi, nerves and vessels. Also, the hilus of the spleen where vessels enter and leave.
