ABSTRACT
A definition of the medical term "penicillin allergy" is presented. This term denotes a hypersensitivity to penicillin which is present in 0.5 to 8 percent of the population. The most common and potentially dangerous reactions are the type I reactions mediated by immunoglobulin E. The definition is from the "Taber's Cyclopedic Medical Dictionary," published by F.A.
