ABSTRACT
Several definitions of the medical term "obturator" are presented. It refers to anything that obstructs or closes a cavity or opening. It also refers to a prosthetic bridge used for spanning the gap in a cleft palate. In addition, an obsturator is a device for closing the end of an instrument for purposes of introduction of a taper-tipped device into a cavity.
