ABSTRACT
A definition of the medical term "mononuclear phagocyte system" is presented. Mononuclear phagocyte system refers to the system of fixed macrophages and circulating monocytes that serve as phagocytes, engulfing foreign substances in a wide variety of immune responses. This system formerly was called the reticuloendothelial system.
