ABSTRACT
A definition of the term "Mallory-Weiss syndrome" is presented. It refers to the hemorrhage from the upper gastrointestinal tract due to a tear in the mucosa of the esophagus or gastroesophageal junction. The term was named after U.S. pathologist G.
