ABSTRACT
A definition of the medical term "large loop excision of the transformation zone (LLETZ)" is presented. LLETZ refers to the practice of obtaining a biopsy of the uterine cervix in patients in whom the colposcopic examination or Pap smear indicates the area is abnormal. This procedure is used in treating noninvasive carcinoma of the cervix.
