ABSTRACT
Definitions of medical terms pertaining to "inflammation" are presented. Inflammation refers to an immunological defense against injury, infection or allergy marked by increases in regional blood flow, immigration of white blood cells, and release of chemical toxins. The terms include "acute inflammation" which refers to an early response to tissue injury, marked by the influx of white blood cells, and "hyperplastic inflammation" which refers to the excess production of young fibrous tissue.
