ABSTRACT
A definition of the medical term "heterotopy" is presented. Heterotopy is a term synonymous with heterotopia. It is a condition characterized by the appearance of normal cells in an abnormal location. The term was derived from the Greek word "hetero" which means other and "topos" which means place.
