ABSTRACT
A definition of the medical term "hemapophysis" is presented. Hemapophysis refers to the portion of a developing vertebra that forms a rib and costal cartilage. The term originated from the Greek words "haima" which means blood, "apo" which means from, and "physis" which means growth. The definition is from the "Taber's Cyclopedic Medical Dictionary," published by F.A. Davis Co. The pronunciation of the term is also provided.
