ABSTRACT
A definition of the medical term "dissociative reaction" is presented. Dissociative reaction refers to a sudden, temporary alteration in the normal functions of consciousness, identity or motor behavior. The term also refers to dissociation, which means the breaking off of normal thought processes as occurring in amnesia, conversion reaction or as a result of psychoactive drugs.
