ABSTRACT
A definition of the medical term "conation" is presented. Conation refers to the initiative, impulse, and drive to act, all of these may be diminished in cerebral diseases, especially those involving the medial orbital parts of the frontal lobes. The term originated from the word "conation" which means an attempt.
