ABSTRACT
The definitions of the terms "compression," "breast compression," and "cerebral compression" are presented. Compression refers to squeezing together, or the condition of being pressed together. Breast compression refers to squeezing the breast between movable grids prior to mammographic or magnetic resonance imaging. Cerebral compression refers to potentially life-threatening pressure on the brain produced by increased intracranial fluids, embolism, thrombosis, skull fractures, or aneurysms.
