ABSTRACT
A definition of the medical term "babesiosis" is presented. It is defined as a rare, usually self-limited disease caused by an intraerythrocytic protozoan, Babesia microti, and perhaps other Babesia species. Fever, chills, headache, sweats, myalgia, arthralgia, and nausea and vomiting are included in the symptoms of babesiosis.
