ABSTRACT
A definition of the term "Apicomplexa" is presented. Apicomplexa is phylum of the kingdom Protista. It is named for a complex of cell organelles, apical microtubule complex, at the apex of the sporozoite form that can penetrate host cells. Medically important genera such as Plasmodium, Toxoplasma, Cryptosporidium, and Isospora are included.
