ABSTRACT
A definition of the medical term "antigen processing" is presented. Antigen processing refers to the mechanism by which foreign antigens are taken into antigen-presenting cells (APCs) and broken up. Part of the antigen is then displayed on the surface of the APC next to a histocompatibility or "self" antigen, T lymphocytes and cell-mediated immunity. The definition is from the "Taber's Cyclopedic Medical Dictionary," published by F.A. Davis Co.
