ABSTRACT
This article presents information on goitre, a collection of disease characterized by an enlarged thyroid gland. Goitre has a number of causes: a shortage of iodine in the diet; swelling due to overactivity in Grave's disease; or autoimmune thyroiditis. Additionally, some chemicals and drugs may cause goitre as a side-effect.
