ABSTRACT
The article provides information on the drug chloroquine. It is an antimalarial drug which is used as an amoebicidal to treat and to prevent contraction of malaria. Chloroquine is also used as an antirheumatic to slow the progress of rheumatic disease. Administration is either oral or by injection. Side effects include nausea and vomiting, headache and gastrointestinal disturbance. Some patients itch and develop a rash. Susceptible patients may suffer psychotic episodes, blood disorders, damage to the eyes and effects to the hair.
