ABSTRACT
The Monster Board is a valuable Web site dedicated to assisting the job seeker. The site includes information on prospective employers, a searchable database of job listings, and various career aids and strategy tips for applicants. It also provides services for employers who have job openings. For example, it features areas called open houses which link the applicant to a virtual tour of a company wishing to post job openings. The last time I logged on, the companies included Litton Data Systems, Price Waterhouse, and an NBC affiliate in San Diego. I inspected the Litton open house which included job listings and a general introduction to the company. There are other areas that offer employer profiles under specialization groupings. Those presented during my last log-in included the healthcare industry, self-employment opportunities, and human resources careers. I examined the healthcare specialization which contained employer profiles, a searchable job database, and articles on trends in employment in the healthcare industry.
