ABSTRACT
The article considers the participation in a conference of the Association for Consumer Research (ACR) by U.S. public officials including William Schultz, Joan Bernstein and Lee Peeler of the Food & Drug Administration (FDA) and Bureau of Consumer Protection of the Federal Trade Commission (FTC). The participation of these officials in the conference is discussed as an indication of the desire of their agencies to encourage consumer research related to public policy issues.
