The article discusses the highlights of the Middle East Rail 2011 conference held in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, in March. Delegates at the conference suggested co-ordinated and business-led decisions to ensure interoperability across the future rail network of the Gulf Co-operation Council (GCC). The audience raised some questions about the region's lack of experience on railroads.
